2024 Summer Internship
Social Media Intern at ChildServe
What advice do you have for fellow students applying for internships?
“Apply for a lot of internships.” Olivia recommends applying for jobs even if they aren’t your top choice. She also discovered job opportunities through club meetings in student organizations. “When it comes to looking for an internship, check online every day and apply every day, new ones are always popping up.”
In your opinion, why you were offered the internship?
“I was prepared for the interview. I did my research on ChildServe and walked in feeling confident that I knew the company and the job position. I also came in with a set of questions regarding the position to show that I was interested in the internship.”
Tell us about your typical day at your internship?
“I was the social media intern, so my day to day varied, but often I would be able to go to fun photoshoots and then write a social media post for the event. I would work on staff profiles and even get to do some bigger projects, such as put together videos for their social media accounts.”
How has the internship helped prepare you for your next career steps?
“ChildServe taught me several different things to help prepare for my next step. It showed me how an office ran and how to collaborate with your different team members to get everyone’s best ideas. I also learned how to write for a specific brand and how to use their voice to best reach their specific audience.”
Have you taken LAS 2030, the Professional Career Preparation course? If so, how was this class helpful?
“Yes, it taught me how to make my resume grab companies’ attention and what topics and questions to ask in interviews.”
