It is the start of the fall semester, but it is never too early to get into the career fair mindset! The LAS Career Services co-hosts multiple career fairs twice a year, in September and February, and September is here! 

 LAS Career Services has a helpful website about career fairs that should be able to answer any questions you may have about our upcoming career fairs! 

Career Fairs co-hosted by the LAS Career Services this Fall: 

• People to People Career Fair – Focused on Human/Social Services, Education, Health/Wellness, Government, Hospitality, and Events. 

• September 22, 2021; 12:00 – 5:00pm (in-person, Scheman Building) 
• September 29, 2021; 10am – 3:00pm (virtual – short online video meetings) 

• Business, Industry, and Technology Career Fair – Focused on Business, Liberal Arts & Sciences, and Human Sciences majors.  

• September 22, 2021; 12:00 – 5:00pm (in-person, Hilton Coliseum) 
• September 29, 2021; 10am – 3:00pm (virtual – short online video meetings) 

Here are some tips from our LAS Career Service Director, Taren Reker, on how to stand out, make a great first impression, and make connections at our Career Fairs.

1. “Pay attention to employers you’re never heard of before. There are a lot of amazing internships and jobs at organizations whose names you won’t recognize. They will probably remember you better and be more excited to talk to you at career fair because they won’t be overwhelmed with students.” 

1. “Go to the career fairs every semester, not just when you’re looking for internship or a job. When you need the internship or job it will be like catching up with old friends, rather than an overwhelming situation where you feel stressed.” 

1. “Send a ‘thank you’ email after the career fair and connect with the employers on LinkedIn. That way, you’ll stay on their radar and they can contact you if there are other openings later.”
